Job Description

A leading manufacturing company is seeking to hire a Logistics Supervisor for their operations in the La Mercy, KZN area

The Logistics Supervisor will oversee and coordinate the daily operations of the companies logistics department which include managing the distribution of goods, ensuring efficient customer service and developing strategies to enhance departmental efficiency and customer satisfaction

Duties and Responsibilities:  

  • Manage and coordinate the flow of incoming and outgoing goods, materials and distribution activities
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of inventory operations
  • Collaborate with internal departments, suppliers and customers and guarantee the prompt delivery of goods and materials
  • Develop and execute continuous improvement strategies and enhance efficiency, customer service and cost-effectiveness
  • Supervise logistics staff, oversee task scheduling and ensure compliance with quality and safety standards
  • Endure adherence to all relevant laws and regulations
  • Establish and maintain standard operating procedures
  • Monitor inventory levels, adjust orders and optimize storage capacity
  • Track order fulfilment, investigate discrepancies and resolve issues
  • Support the training and development of team members
  • Implement and enforce health and safety standards     

Minimum Requirements:

Education and Experience:

  • Degree or Diploma in Logistics, Supply Chain Management or related   
  • Minimum 5 years' experience as a Logistics Supervisor in the Automotive Manufacturing or general manufacturing field    
  • Flexibility to work shifts is required   

Technical Requirements:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of planning, receiving and distribution processes and procedures
  • Familiarity with warehouse and logistics operations including inventory management systems
  • Proficiency in end-to-end supply chain operations
  • Basic understanding of business and financial principles
  • Expertise in stock management
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and IATF 16949 standards
  • Understanding of employee and industrial relations practices
  • Valid driver's license
  • Forklift certification advantageous
  • Strong safety awareness and knowledge
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including intermediate Excel skills
  • Ability to contribute to and participate in project as needed
